About Sima de las Cotorras
Ecotourism Center that promotes the understanding of our geology, prehistoric art and biology of the region. The Sima de las Cotorras, like all other abysses, acts in geological terms as if it were a natural cistern, which in rainy periods, accumulates water that enters through sinkholes or caves. By not allowing the water to drain, it causes accumulation of the liquid until it is full; as a consequence of the direct action of the water and a mixture of organic waste that is dragged by the same water, forming a chemical compound that gradually dilutes the limestone rock, wearing down the roofs until causing a collapse of the surface. And this is how the great abysses are formed. Sinking that after millions of years served prehistoric man as a mural, where he captured through rock art a calendar of his astral observations, activities and events, a legacy of the cyclical understanding of his environment. At present, it offers through adventure such as: Hiking, Rappelling, Zip-lining and Climbing, promoting the interaction of the visitor with nature, exposing their emotions, making them feel an integral part of it and in the course of their journey make them feel that we are part of the descendants of that man from prehistory who left us the legacy of his art and knowledge to make us feel proud of our human roots.
